Nursing Academy Pipeline Program

West Virginia’s demand for nurses continues to grow as nurses’ age and retire and fewer students are drawn to the profession. We created the Nurse Academy Program Model to inspire students to pursue a professional career in nursing. We want to show the opportunities and rewards that nursing has to offer while establishing an educational path that will lead to a professional career in nursing.

Participating in an academy increases self-esteem and confidence in each student while building the potential for future nursing leaders. Reaching out to students before high school gives them the knowledge required to select the correct preparatory coursework. Helping these students gain a clear understanding of just what nursing is all about can assure that West Virginia has a fleet of dedicated, well-trained nurses in the future.
